REQUEST

The manufacturer of an interactive product for classroom and office asked us to simplify production of a writing component, add a soft grip and visual appeal that would also serve as color coding.

WHAT WE DID

By moving from overmolding to multishot molding, a production step was eliminated. This and new materials suggested by Rolco significantly reduced production cost. The same changes made improved design possible. Robotic insertion of a plastic nib increased consistency in production.

RESULT

The new pens are easier and more comfortable to use, which adds value in a rapidly evolving and highly competitive market. Production costs are less, which makes the product more competitive.

ADDED VALUE

Rolco also produces an accompanying single shot part and collates pens into sets ready for inclusion with the final product.
