Multishot O-Ring Stays In Place,
Prevents Engine Failure

A leading manufacturer sought to improve its lube filter for diesel engines by joining the filter’s endcap gasket and O-ring. They knew multishot molding was the ideal solution, but needed a “thought partner” to consider economies and help them produce the part.

WHAT WE DID

To make the advancement possible for the manufacturer, Rolco produced a prototype for testing, developed material specifications, and put a manufacturing process in place that brought the price point closer to that of two separate parts.

RESULT

Because it is a multishot gasket, the O-ring is now in the correct place at all times when the filter is assembled or disassembled from the vehicle. Leak paths that lead to engine failure have been eliminated, increasing vehicle safety and reliability. The customer is able to sell and stand behind a better product, produced at a price that stands up in the marketplace.
