News: Material Selection Guidelines

New Online Resources Include Material Selection Guidelines for Multishot Molding

July 12, 2010 -- Rolco Inc. has a new online resource to help designers understand the many factors that come into play when choosing two materials for multishot plastic injection molding, (also known as two-shot molding).

Material selection is crucial to successful bonding with multishot injection molding. Because chemical bonding only occurs with compatible materials, and because the choice of material is paramount to the performance of the part, many factors must be considered to ensure that the two resin choices will both bond and perform with suitable results.

"This process is a lot more complicated than just picking two resins off a chart," says Vince dutt, Sales Engineering Manager for Rolco Inc. "The resources that we are providing won't lead to the identification of two materials for a specific project, but they outline the thought processes that are needed to engineer the right solution for each individual design."

Access the web page or download the fact sheet. See our Resources section for information on applications for multishot technology and specialty materials for plastic injection molding.
